BLACK LIVES MATTER
NOGOJIWAnONG
our Mission
We are a group of individuals who believe that our community often forgets about BIPOC individuals. As a group; we wish to affirm, strengthen, and grow our BIPOC community to allow for greater understanding within the Peterborough-Nogojiwanong area.
We aim to create a community that views us as equal regardless of our identity. We can be more than our identity allows us to believe is attainable.
We believe those who wish to join our movement must believe in the same ideals. Regardless of gender expression, race, religion, or sexuality; you hold these ideas of equality and reform of our society to be truly important.
Along with these ideas we hope to be a platform to help Black individuals, foster their ideas and liberate us all from the harmful effects of white supremacy. This includes actions that will heal and affirm Black individuals; as well as the community of Indigenous people and other minority groups.
Time and again, racist ideas have not been cooked up from the boiling pot of ignorance and hate. Time and again, powerful and brilliant men and women have produced racist ideas in order to justify the racist policies of their era, in order to redirect the blame for their era’s racial disparities away from those policies and onto Black people
